We will post a collection of Facer's themes for you to download at PocketCraft's website. We will include free themes as well as those designed by other graphic artists. If you have designed a Facer theme, just send it to us. We'll be happy to share it with other Facer users. Your theme will be displayed at our website for everyone to download and share!

I like Facer. Now, I wish to register my copy of Facer. How do I register Facer?
Facer is a shareware. You may use Facer as a DEMO for some numbers of trials until a nag box pops up everytime you launch it. For you to unlock the full version of the software, you will need a serial key, which will be sent once you register your version of Facer.
To register Facer, you will need to purchase it. You may purchase Facer from PocketCraft's e-store handled by a trusted and reliable transaction company, Plimus. All credit card transaction will be handled by Plimus, a credible and safe transaction company based in California , USA .
Once purchasing has completed through the e-store, PocketCraft will be sent an order notification in REAL TIME. Orders will be processed at PocketCraft and you will be sent your serial key through e-mail. If you have not received your serial key after 24 hours, please contact us immediately. Do not go through third party vendors as this will delay your request being handled.
How do I purchase Facer from PocketCraft's e-store?

Why should I support the developer?
Many Palm OS software developers license their product to large software vendors. Vendors re-sell the software through their website at a very, very high commission rate. Some developers make it through, some do not. Vendors usually charge a flat rate fee to developers to offset those who do not make it, and at the same time make huge amounts of profits for themselves. Weighing the costs and benefits provided by vendor, developers are paying a premium too high just to get their software listed at vendor's website. Sure, they occasionally promote the software at the front page or in newsletters, etc; but at the expense of the developer, returns are usually too little to take home.
Developers are usually the ones who take the large bite of risk in developing software for Palm OS. Whatever is left is used to pay off high costs of advertising, pay for hired help, rent, bills, etc. Most developers are small and independent developers passionate about developing software.
Developers need your help. Even though the vendors are endorsed by palmOne and PalmSource (if you are concerned of credibility and safety), most software developers use trusted transactions vendor to handle purchases for their products. It is within best practice to do so; at it not only protects credit card users shopping through the internet against fraud, but also protects developer in receiving their payments.

PocketCraft has just asked me for my Palm User ID. What is it? Where do I find it?
PocketCraft needs your Hotsync ID or Palm User ID to generate a serial key. The serial key is what you need to unlock the full version of Facer.
HotSync ID is the name you give your device. Like, I call my Palm powered device, mY PreCious_3. Go to HotSync, it's at the top right hand corner.
It is very important that you send the HotSync ID in the correct upper/lower case, spacing, bars, etc. The key generator sees them as different characters. If you inaccurately sent the HotSync ID, the serial key generated will also be inaccurate.
I haven't got my serial key. What happened? Will PocketCraft help me?
If after 24 hours of your purchase, you still haven't got your product serial key, contact us immediately. Send your proof of purchase, i.e. date of purchase, and hotsync ID, and we'll send you the serial key right away!
Our serial key e-mail dispatch is automated. There's no way for us to know if your key got rejected by your e-mail server. We also advise you authorize e-mails from pocketcraft.com to go through your e-mail server and not be rejected as spam. |

Where can I download Facer?

How do I open a zipped file?
The Facer file that you are downloading is a zipped file. A zipped file is a large file that is compressed so that you don't have to wait forever to download the full file. However, you will need certain applications to open a zipped file.
If you are using Windows, we recommend that you use WinZip to open zipped files. For more product information, please visit www.winzip.com .
If you are a Mac user, you can also open zipped files. There are many applications out there that are available for Mac users. One of them is Zipit. Zipit is available as a shareware at www.maczipit.com .
I downloaded Facer from PalmGear.com using Streamlync. When I click on Facer, my computer says, File not found'. Why is that?
Streamlync is developed by PalmGear to ease the process of downloading and installing Palm software. However, it only works with single file applications, and not multiple files like Facer. |
Installation |
How do I install Facer on my device?
Once Facer is downloaded from our website, you will need to unzip it. You may refer above for help in unzipping.
Once the zip file is opened (and sometimes it's just a .prc file), click on the appropriate Facer file and it will be added to your hotsync log. It will be installed in your Palm Powered device the next time you sync your device with your PC.
Together with the Facer installation file, we've added an installation guide in .txt to help you in installation. Please read it carefully to avoid complications in installation.
Facer suddenly crashed upon installation. What happened?
This can happen due to a number of reasons. One might be that the download is corrupt. You would have to re-download Facer from our site.
Another reason maybe that there exists application(s) in your device that is in direct conflict with Facer. We've managed to isolate some of them and recognized Jot and MegaLauncher as conflicts. Removing these applications from your device will ensure smooth running of Facer.
Corrupted themes could also be the culprit of this bad behavior. You will need to delete the themes from your device so that Facer will run smoothly. There is no other way to find out which themes are corrupt/not other than to try them one by one.
Installing incompatible themes for your device could cause a crash. Do not attempt to use low resolution themes (prefix LR) for high resolution Sony Clie devices. Clie's cannot handle low res themes, and will crash if installed. |
Registration
PocketCraft has just sent me my serial key. However, when I registered it, a pop-up comes up saying that the key entered is incorrect. It then displays my Palm User ID. What should I do?
Don't worry. If your serial key is incorrect, we'll generate a new one for you. This is most likely because the Hotsync ID you sent is inaccurate. Just send us your HotSync ID in the correct upper/lower case, space, bars, etc.
The Palm User ID that comes up in the pop-up box is the correct Hotsync ID.
How do I register the serial key?
To register the key, go to the Menu on the Graffiti area, the main pull-down menu will appear, then choose 'Help' and tap on 'Register'. Tap your serial key, and finally tap on 'Register'. You are registered.
For versions 1.5.7 and up, you could invoke the main pull-down by just tapping on the very top bar in the Today Page.
The Graffiti area or the SilkScreen area is where you write' words with stylus.
Why haven't I received my serial key?
Software orders are processed manually. Because of the time zone difference, please allow us a window of 24 hours to send your key.
Our vendors give you the option to resend' the serial key. If you would like us to speed up the serial key process, please send us an e-mail directly and we'll attend to you personally. Requesting for your serial key to be resent' multiple times will NOT increase the chances of you getting your key earlier.
I lost all my data in my Palm device and, including my Facer serial key. What to do now?
We'll send you a new key. Just send us your HotSync ID and sales reference number.
Upgrading
Are upgrades free?
Minor upgrades for Facer is usually free. For more upgrade information, please check the product description for more details.
However, PocketCraft cannot guarantee free upgrades for plug-ins developed by third parties.
I bought my Facer from a mobile operator (not through PocketCraft's website or vendor website). Am I entitled to a free upgrade?
Yes, you are entitled to free upgrades following the terms laid in product description. However, if you have bought Facer through a mobile operator, please send us the details of the purchase as PocketCraft will not receive any proof of purchase until the end of month.
How do I install an upgrade?
You may install an upgrade after you have deleted the present version of Facer from your device with your Palm OS built-in launcher only. Please do not use third-party application to delete Facer. Once Facer is deleted, you may install the new Facer upgrade. Register your serial key, and you're done!
I just deleted Facer from my device. When I installed the new upgrade an alert appeared, Old version detected. You did not delete older version of Facer before installing this copy. Please delete this copy of Facer and reinstall.
Most likely you have deleted Facer with a third party application like FileZ, etc. Please delete Facer with the built-in launcher only before installing a new upgrade.
I wish to upgrade Facer. However, I lost my serial key. Can anyone help?

Troubleshooting
I just installed an application. Why doesn't it show in the launcher page?
In order for fast loading, we have maintained that the application cache be refreshed manually. To manually refresh cache, stroke a / in the Graffiti area. Tap on the furthest right (refresh) icon. You will see your new apps in the ALL category.
I can't seem to see applications in my external card (includes Memory Stick, SD, MMC, etc) in the launcher area. Why?
As with newly installed applications, you would have to manually refresh the application cache to see apps in card. You will see them in the ALL category with an external card tag (icon) to mark them.
Facer crashed on my device. I try tapping the screen but cannot get it to reset. I'd have to wait till it runs out of juice. What can I do?
At the back of your device, there is a tiny reset hole'. If you are using a slider-type device like Palm Tungsten, you'd have to slide down the slider to see the reset hole'.
Take your stylus, and press the hole with the tip. Your device will reset.
Don't wait till your device runs out of juice. This will damage its battery health and you will lose all data.
Themes and Plug-ins
Can I use all themes for my device?
It depends on the device type and resolution supported. Here's a table to help you.

I'm using a Palm Tungsten. I've just installed a theme. However, I see magenta rings around the icons. Why is that?
Palm Tungsten's have a special requirement for themes. Theme authors must use black (not magenta like other themes) as the transparent color. If you see magenta rings in your theme, means that the theme author did not use black as the transparent color.
To make it easy for you, use themes which have the prefix HR5. This means that theme author has created the theme to be Palm Tungsten sensitive.
Note for themers: The minimum black color you should use is #111111.
I just installed a theme. However it crashes my device. Why is that?
There are a few theme-related reasons this could happen. One is that you could have installed a corrupted theme. Delete that theme from your device.
Another reason may be that you are using an incompatible theme with your device. Don't try to use a low resolution theme for hi res Sony Clie's. The two don't mix.
I have downloaded some themes for my Facer 2. But they don't appear in the Theme list. Is there something wrong?
Most likely you have downloaded Facer 1 themes. Facer 1 themes are not compatible with Facer 2 and vice-versa. If you're using Facer 2, download Facer 2 themes that are compatible with your device.
I want to create my own themes. Is there a tool I can use?
Yes, of course! PocketCraft has developed a tool specially to create themes for Facer, Facer Theme Architect.
